Using an Apple QuickTake 150 digital camera, I made two QuickTime VR movies of some local vistas.
Along Highway 1, Between Elk and AlbionThis VR movie includes the offshore sea stacks (a favorite subject of Ansel Adams) that you can see in the image below. This movie shows a roughly 270-degree view -- I didn't want to sully the image with a view of the highway and my car!

Above Highway 1, Near AlbionThis 360-degree panoramic movie was taken from a spot near Albion. As the movie opens, you're looking south toward Elk and Point Arena. You can see the Navarro Beach, where the Navarro River empties into the Pacific. As you swing around to look north, you can catch a glimpse of California's famous Highway 1. Looking east, you can see the rolling hills of sheep farms and redwood studded ridges.

To view these movies, you need the QuickTime VR Player, which is available for the Mac OS and for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.
You can download the free player from Apple's QuickTime VR site. This page describes how to download and installed the software and configure your browser to play QuickTime VR movies.
When you're ready, you can download the QuickTime VR movies by clicking their images.
