The Hits Just Keep on Coming as Downloadable Music Rocks the Web (PC World, August 1999). A news story on MP3 and the still-hazy future of online music distribution.

Processors Leap Ahead (January 1998). This was the lead news story in this issue, and I collaborated on it with PC World's Bill Snyder and with award-winning technical illustrator Arne Hurty. It's a good roundup of advancements in microprocessor and memory design — not the usual kind of story I write.

AOL Rate Hike Ignites Internet Service Price War (PC World, May 1998). AOL raises its rates to $21.91 -- will others follow suit? (This one seems older than it is!)

Spam Attack: Get Ready for the Bulk E-Mail Deluge (PC World, August 1997). A news article on the evils of spam, with tips on fighting back. Dated, but still applicable — alas. Related link: On the Beat with SpamCop, a radio interview with the operator of the SpamCop service, one of the best ways to report spammers.
